Alphabeta Building
Alphabeta Building
Finsbury Square
London, January 2008
“In the 1980s, the older (pre-1940s) buildings were all comprehensively redeveloped, by Sheppard Robson & Partners, to form a new office complex: Triton Court. The interiors were gutted and rebuilt, but the façades were retained, albeit with the addition of a double-height mansard roof and the insertion of a new entrance arch through the four-bay extension to the original Edwardian block. These are now the only remaining pre-World War II buildings in the square. After the completion of Triton Court, the 1950s block alone was left with the designation Royal London House. In 2013–15, Triton Court was developed by Resolution Property into Alphabeta, a 220,000 sq ft office block.[17] This was sold to Indonesian real estate conglomerate Sinar Mas Land in 2015.” (Finsbury Square, Wikipedia)

“The Broadgate Tower is a skyscraper in London's main financial district, the City of London. It was constructed between 2005 and 2008. The developer for the site was British Land. In February 2005 Broadgate Plaza Ltd, a subsidiary of British Land, submitted a planning application to the City of London for the construction of two buildings of 33 stories and 13 stories. Broadgate Tower, which was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and built by Bovis Lend Lease, was completed in 2008. It was constructed at the same time as the neighbouring building, 201 Bishopsgate, and the two are separated by a covered pedestrian area.” (Broadgate Tower, Wikipedia)

Exchange House
Exchange House
Primrose Street
Broadgate, City of London
London, January 2008
“When it opened in 1990, London’s Exchange House became an instant classic, one that exemplified a core belief at SOM that virtually all of the world’s cities can generate new urban space. Here, the space was found by utilizing air rights and applying sophisticated engineering techniques to the architectural design. Exchange House is a building-bridge hybrid: Its form and structure are built on an exposed steel bridge spanning a 78-meter-long rail yard. A platform arches over the train tracks, enabling the Liverpool Street Station to function normally underneath a 10-story office building. Four parallel structural arches, two expressed externally and two internally, provide the building’s skeleton, enabling column-free interior spaces.” (Exchange House, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill)

Dirty Dicks
Swedeland Court
Bishopsgate, City of London
London, January 2008
“A pub on the east side of the road Bishopsgate, in the Bishopsgate Without area and is in the historic East End of London, which Bentley had once owned, changed its name from The Old Jerusalem to Dirty Dick's, and recreated the look of Bentley's warehouse shop. The contents, including cobwebs and dead cats from the original warehouse, were originally a part of the cellar bar, but have now been tidied to a glass display case. Successive owners of the Bishopsgate distillery and its tap capitalised on the legend. By the end of the nineteenth century, its owner, a public house company called William Barker's (D.D.) Ltd., was producing commemorative booklets and promotional material to advertise the pub. The pub had to undergo a degree of deep cleansing in the 1980s in order to comply with health and safety legislation.” (Dirty Dick, Wikipedia)
