Wild boar by Pierre Louis Rouillard
Staircase of the Lefuel Court
Musée du Louvre
Rue de Rivoli
Quartier Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, 1st arrondissement
Paris, July 2008
And I was going to say that's a magnificent sculpture of a rather ugly animal. This reminds me, too, of how much of the Musee du Louvre we missed on our trip to Paris.
Do you know there are over 200 000 of these things in this country and that hunting allowances are still ridiculously small? And then we IMPORT boar from East European countries...
Did the artist forget the tusk? It would be fiercer then. I don't want to be in the forest and see this animal. There are a lot of wild boars in Borneo where I grew up.
Okay, it came up!

ReplyDeleteGood reason to visit Paris eventually:)
ReplyDeleteFerocious looking.
ReplyDeleteIsrael has wild boars too.
It seems you found an angle with a nice background. Had they put up the ugly "temporary" building yet?
