  1. Those poor WW I soldiers, with primitive equipment, where did they find such courage?

  2. Over here they didn't. They just went along because they had no choice. Those who didn't were court-martialled and executed... Huge controversy in France over should the soldiers who were executed for treason (i.e. sympathising with the enemy, refusing to march to a certain death under a volley of fire, faking illness...)

    Have you seen the movie "Joyeux Noël"?

    It's quite a good sculpture.

  3. Not only do I need glasses, I also need to sleep, I'm not even finishing my sentences... Should these soldiers appear on the monuments dedicated to French soldiers who fell in 14-18?
