“Canyoneaustrate” fountain by Gérard Singer
(Fountain of the Parvis of the Palais Omnisport)
Parc de Bercy
Quartier de Bercy, 12th arrondissement
Paris, July 2004
“The word Cayoneaustrate comes from the contraction of cayon, water (eau) and stratum (strate). Based on his experience at the National Geographic Institute, the French sculptor Gerard Singer imagined a negative sculpture posing the problem of the composition of the solid and the void. The higher basin is overflowing onto the superposed strata and cascade in the thalweg.” (Canyoneaustrate, JML Water Feature Design)
