“Henri Laurens (1885-1954), was originally a stonemason. He began sculpting in 1899 and after meeting Pablo Picasso and other cubist artists, he adopted that style himself in 1911. His gravesite at Montparnesse Cemetery features one of his own works- La Douleur (Grief). The piece depicts a naked woman sitting with her head in her lap.” (Henri Laurens, Art@Site)
