“Le Grand Toscano” by Igor Mitoraj, 1983
Faubourg de l'Arche
Courbevoie, La Défense
Paris, July 2011
“Since 1983, a bronze bust of a truncated giant has stood on a granite pavement at the foot of the Tour Areva, reminiscent of the statues bequeathed to us by Antiquity. With this sculpture, the artist aims to remind passers-by that in this still young district, history and memory will one day find an important and necessary place.” (Le Grand Toscano, Paris La Défense)

I'm not even going to ask. But would you believe we never made it to La Defense when we were in Paris - just not enough time! Next time!
